Here’s what happened over the summer….

Doing work you love is hard, but when you love it as much as I do, it seems mostly effortless.  The only down side is that it takes up much of your time and life seems to fly by so very fast. Take for instance, my blog.  My diary to my family, today and tomorrow, and to the world (not that the whole world is interested, but that it is open to everyone in it who is curious enough to look)

Summer is officially over, so there are a few things I want to jot down so I will not forget they ever happened.  This Summer, I had some changes in my life; one was to say good bye to my accompanist, Maddie, who went to Notre Dame University to bigger and better things than playing at our sweet little chapel in the woods….

Here is one of our last pictures together.  She was a very, very sweet young lady, who did a great job providing music for our Masses every week.

Another change in my life was that of work.  I am still dedicated to my wonderful Precious Metal position, but am beginning to feel a shift in the industry in the area of gold buying parties.  To create an excitement to my hostesses, I brought on It Works, Global on board as a sister business to create a stir, and it has.  I have been buying gold and silver and wrapping bodies all summer long.

I have also cut 9 inches off my hair….

Children’s Day Festivities…

An impromptu photo session at the Water Tower Park…our annual trip down the shore and a trip to Tabor Lake!

Other highlights include the Baptism of Sonny where we got to see some old friends….

and finally, the beginning of school to get things back into order….

I am still singing weekly at Mass and a Funeral or 2 every month as well as Weddings now and again.  I had a special treat when I got to see my Catholic Elementary School Principal, Sr. Ascenza, who I love very much. It wasn’t the best picture, but you can see how happy we are to see each other. 🙂

Overall, it was a great Summer and I am happy that fall is here to bring on new adventures in our loud, crazy life!

Loudly yours.

Five Question Friday 6/1/12

From Five Crooked Halos

1. What were you scared of as a kid?

As a kid, I was scared of leaving a place and never returning.  Not exactly sure why. The most common place I feared never going back to was my cousin’s house in S Orange.  It was so beautiful.  I loved being there at the Mansion.  The property was beautiful. I have so many memories there and sometimes, even today, I go and park near it just to look at it and remember.

2. Do you sleep well in a hotel?

Pretty well. It depends on where it is. One of the best places I have slept was The Wolverton Inn in Lambertville, NJ and Embassy Suites in Parsippany, NJ.  The beds there were awesome.

3. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who and why?

I would want to meet Judy Garland or Marilyn Monroe (the dead people) and Jennifer Lopez or Johnny Depp (alive)

Why? First of all, they are all in the entertainment business, something I wish I could be a part of.  Most of them are singers, like me and I would love to pick their brain and just get to know them.

4. It’s a hot summer day. Do you prefer to be pool side or at the beach?

Pool side.  Hate the sand.

5. What is your favorite summer dish?

Cucumber Salad.  Just love the taste.

Five question Friday! 5/25/12

1. Are you a napper?

Yes, but usually when I am sick or pregnant or my body just tells me to. Not a regular occurrence.

2. What was your favorite subject in school? Most hated?

Social Studies. Hated Math.

3. Did you have the something old new borrowed and blue at your wedding? What were they?

Borrowed was my cousin in laws veil, can’t recall if there was anything blue.

4. What one thing are you determined to do this summer.

Build my new business up, spend time with the kids at the pool.

5. Ice cream or Popsicles?

Ice cream is great, but the amount can get out of control. Popsicles are nice because there is more of a chance of portion control.

Five Question Friday

1. What did you wear to prom? Include a picture if possible.

Here is a picture of my Junior Prom with my friend, John Slater.  I was never asked to Prom by anyone in my school.  (rolling eyes) So, I had to import a prom date Junior and Senior year.  John and I went to Grammar School together and he was always so sweet.  (I think we made a great prom couple, don’t you?)  My Mom dropped me off at his house and he drove to the prom in his White Altima, which I loved since it looked like a Mercedes.  It was fun arriving in his car.  I did not get to ride in a limo for prom, but had the chance on my Wedding Day. 🙂  He was so sweet to match me to a tee and buy a beautiful corsage.  It was a “coming out” kind of feeling for me, that Prom Night.  I felt like a Princess and had the feeling I was grown up on that day. It was a very special night to be alone with a guy and all my friends, dancing the night away. My husband and kids don’t understand why I keep this picture, but it is special to me because it was SUCH an exciting start to being a woman from a little girl. We had a great night.  He was such a gentleman and a great date.  No kiss though….that was a bummer.

2. Would you rather be on the biggest loser or a food eating challenge?

Probably biggest loser.  Food challenge? No….I have a weak stomach these days and would much rather lose the weight, although I do not have that much weight to lose to be on the show, unless I wanted to look anorexic.  No thanks.

3. Done fave sonic drink? Refreshing summer drink? (Hey, Kristina…was that a typo, or some “done good” Southern thing?)

My favorite Summer Drink is a Sangria Slushie.  It is kind of a fruit smoothie except with Yago Wine and lots of ice.  Love it.

Frozen blueberries, strawberries, etc too.

It is a hit at my summer parties, which I love to host.

4. What was your first car, and what did you call it?

Ah, my first car.  It was a beautiful Monte Carlo.  Beautiful brown with a Notre Dame Sticker in the back window. (Coincidentally, my Son has a car with the same dang sticker, in the same place…weird)  I called her Monte…..and I loved to drive her everywhere.  Monte even saved my life when I got into an accident.  Totaled that poor baby, but I will always remember her for saving my life. Good ole Monte.

5. What’s one thing your child or spouse does that sends you over the edge?

One thing?  That is so hard to pinpoint.  I do have a child that sends me over the edge, who will be nameless, but that “CHILD” loves to aggravate the other children in the house by teasing, making fun, hoarding games, computer time, snack food, you name it.  This “CHILD” is older and I believe should know better, but they DON’T.  🙂  THAT sends me over the edge.  Husband is almost perfect, but I don’t like sitting near him when it is quiet and he is chewing. (Love you, honey….he hardly reads my blog, but just in case….)

Loudly yours,

Alicia

Five Question Friday for March 9th

1. Are you looking forward to the time change this weekend?
Yes!  Love it when the day is light for a longer time. It means Spring is on the way!
2. Are you getting the new iPad/would you want a iPad?
No, no need for it.  Mine works great and I love it very much. If I got it for free, sure! Then I’d give mine to one of my kids.
3. If money was not a problem, what is the one thing you would splurge on?
An addition to my home including one of those secret pools that rise up to become a patio.  It would be so nice to have more space.
4. How did you and the Mr. (or Mrs.) meet?
We met in church in the Choir.  We dated, broke up and after I realized I would be missing someone special, we got back together again.
I am glad we did. 🙂
5. Summer is right around the corner. Bikini or one-piece?
Tankini, but def touching each other to look like a one piece. Too many scars after baring 7 children.  Could not subject that to anyone….
