Our Trip to Passaic County Technical Institute

Passaic County Technical Institute

This week, my Daughter and I went on a tour of PCTI to see if she would like to go to High School here. The School is amazing. It is a secure campus, set up on a mountain top in Wayne, NJ and it boasts its own Athletic Center, complete with indoor pool, a zip line and obstacle course, athletics, galore!  It’s own restaurant, bank, printing shop, you name it!

Here, we are at the TV station by the green screen, interview set, control room….

The most interesting thing to Rachael was the School of Communication and the art rooms.

Of course, I liked the Johnny Depp drawing!

The school was like a city!

It took us about 2 hours to tour the school.
I was most impressed with the Criminal Justice room with the NJROTC and its Commanding Officer, who happened to be in the class I was visiting. She was an outstanding individual who is in charge of 300 students, along with Retired Naval Officers who guide them all. She just wanted to make me stand up and cheer (and sign all my kids up for the ROTC!!)
It was very impressive to see such a dedicated young woman with a passion for Leadership.

The classrooms were all busy and bustling, filled with each school’s individual blend of tools needed for each concentration. You can see the hard work and dedication of each classroom and the energy that filled the halls of the institute. I look forward to hearing from admissions that she will officially a part of the Class of 2017!

Gratitude Journal Day 3

Today my Gratitude Journal includes:

My team of girls who have joined me thus far in my business. They are the greatest bunch of women. They are caring, giving, fun, positive and some of the most happy people, ever. I am ever so blessed to have them on my team!  My prayer is that they all grow personally, spiritually and financially along with me in our journey together! Go Team!

My 2nd entry is for my growing Ortley Beach, NJ team! Little by little, the leaders are popping up, forming a team of women (of course) who are helping others in different ways. Funny thing is, we have never even met it person.  They are dedicated, loving, concerned, forward thinking women! I am proud!! 🙂 Image

My 3rd entry is for the family that has been created in NJ with the larger It Works team. What a great group of women and men they are!  I am proud to be a part of a family that works together for the betterment of all!  We are going far!!

Hooray for teams!!

You never know what you have until you lose it.

These past 4 weeks have been insane. It seems like such a whirlwind.  It started on the last weekend of October, a kind of nervous energy that was in the air regarding the upcoming Hurricane.  Nothing seemed to get done due to the nervousness that was in the air. That nervousness was well justified. Many of our lives as we knew it, were to be changed forever; especially those who lived on the Barrier Islands of NJ.  I do not live on the Island, but I have been vacationing there for the last 23 years with my family.

It all started in 1990, when I went to visit my Boyfriend at the time.  He and his family were on their yearly vacation and I went to visit.  It was an eventful trip, as I got the chance to meet his family that would be my own the following year. Not only would I share their name, but the Ortley Vacations, year after year. I have to admit, being close to the “riff raff” that would frequent the next town over,  was not exactly one of the reasons I liked Ortley. It was the memories we, as a family had created year after year. My kids would not even consider going to any other beach in the world. EVER. This is their beach and they were never going anywhere else. Bozza Beach week is the official name of our vacation , and now that is has been turned upside down, it has been a bitter pill to swallow, watching the homes we frequented, get filled with water, one of them even smashed into pieces.

Many of those homes now, including the home of our Aunt and Uncle, are soon to be leveled. 7 feet high mounds of personal belongings, claimed by mold, in the after math of Sandy, are now left on every street. Friends are reunited and met by tears of joy and sorrow.  The human spirit of those in the area reaching out to help is a welcome salve to the wound that has been inflicted to this hard hit area.  It will never be the same. Ever.  The spirit of the town affected is still strong and is determined to come back and rebuild. Not everyone has the same resolve and new neighbors may be in the future, but there is one common thread that runs through the Shores of NJ and NY. We will rise again!

Gratitude Challenge Day #3

Today, I am grateful for vacations and family memories at the Shore. All my life, I have vacationed at the Jersey Shore. I have so many memories there.

I am grateful to my parents for the gift of travel. Although I love the Jersey Shore, I do have a piece of my heart in Ecuador and I am grateful for the memories of the time I have spent there.

I am grateful for the gift of always loving my job and being my own boss. It has been a challenge, but mostly a joy.

Loudly yours,

Just another day in Mt Tabor

As I have stated many times before, I live in a very special town with very talented people.

This past Sunday, we had a blast, calling in all the resident zombie wanna bees together for a little film by our neighbor, Tom.

To us, he is just Tom, but to the anime and Pokemon kingdoms, he is something equivalent to a god.

Tom has a convention this weekend and wanted to give his fans a special treat, so a call went out to many of the neighbors for zombie stars.

They came.

They staggered.

They were slaughtered.

Hank; Zombie killer

Thanks to the efforts of the Zombie warrior Wayland family, Mt Tabor is one again safe.

Thanks, guys.

Loudly yours,
