Mr Wonderful

Of the 3 things I am grateful for today, one big one is Mr. Wonderful, my hubby. I  am able to honor him in a contest today, so here goes.

Mr. Wonderful and I have 7 children.  Our family has the benefit of having very hands on Daddy who cooks, cleans up, does the main grocery shopping every week, takes the time to hang out with the boys watching movies as well as pay attention to the

girls and their interests.  Attends their school dances with me, goes to their night time events, takes lots of pictures of the family, all the time.  Works a steady job with he enjoys, is easy going, has a great voice, and is very intelligent.   What more can you ask of a Mr. Wonderful? He is my Mr. Wonderful and I love him. 🙂

Real quick:

I am grateful for new friends (I made some last night at a party I attended to benefit my friend Rachel)

I am also grateful for new business connections!!  Made a nice one last night that I think will be great for both of us!

3 things to be grateful for 6/19/12

1. Information

In today’s crazy financial market, a leg up on what is really going on is a great thing.  Today, I am grateful to have the time to listen to information that will help me and my family keep our finances safe and growing.I got the chance to listen to info from the Elevation Group and I think the information is worth while.

2. Family members

Good family members are worth their weight in gold. Thank God I have a great family. Sometimes they can drive me nutty, but I love them, none the less!!  It is a great game of give and take and I am happy to be in the “game” with them. 🙂

3. Integrity

I sure am grateful for those who take responsibility for their lives and who show up when they say they will and do what they say they are going to do.  I sure hope that I always model that to my kids!!

3 things to be grateful for 6/18/12

3 things for which I am grateful today are:

Camaraderie
Like minds coming together towards a goal.
This weekend, we had our 3rd bi annual Tabor Idol.
It was so much fun. It is a forum which the neighbors of Mt Tabor come together and share their various talents together on one stage to benefit our annual Children’s Day, a festival of sort, celebrating the Children of Mt Tabor. It used to be the time when the people who resided here for the summer would pack up and go home. (our town was the summer “mountain” resort for the Methodist Church; those desiring a beach environment would go to the Sister town, Ocean Grove.)
I got the chance to sing a couple of songs and had so much fun singing them. Songbird was a song I got the chance to refamiliarize myself with through Glee, but which I sang since I loved Fleetwood Mac growing up as a teen. It was fun dedicating the song to my BGF, Anina, who I always want to be happy. 🙂 Hey You was my tribute to Pink Floyd, whose music I do love, even though it is kind of depressing. That song was one of the more singable song for me to sing and it was fun performing with BBT! My eldest girls got to sing as well and I was very proud of them!! Such fun. The after party was a blast and very loud. I am sure our neighbors were not thrilled since we were up until after 12. Thankfully, no police calls were made. It was an amazing night.

Fathers who make a difference.
My Dad is a great guy and I am lucky enough to say that my Father-in-law is, too. Our family is so lucky to have such great family cornerstones. They are both devout in their faith and have brought up great kids. I can write forever about their virtues, but I will not go on and on. Suffice to say, that through their examples, they have modeled what it is to be a great Dad and I am lucky enough to be married to a great Dad as well! Very lucky…

Adversity & direction

If we never had adversity, we would never have a reason to appreciate the good times in life. I just heard something similar on the Christian radio station local to us. It made a lot of sense to me and it might sound funny to be grateful for it, but when you are lucky enough to have some direction out of that adversity, it is something for which one can be grateful.

Five Question Friday!

My life has been such a whirlwind lately.  I have not had time for very much lately!!  I do have the latest questions from yesterday, though!

Here they are!

Loudly yours,

Alicia

1. Did you do anything special for your kids on the last day of school? Or did you parents do anything special for you?

No, nothing special.  Does breathe a sigh of relief count?

2. What’s your favorite summer tradition with your children?

Go to the pool!!  Love my pool because it is so woodsy and has a Pocono feel…and its quiet. 🙂

3. What was your favorite thing to do during the summer as a kid?
Run around with my friends, ride bikes, go hiking in back of my Cousin’s immense house, take trips to the shore, the Poconos or trips to Ecuador.  Great fun!

4. How old were you when you were married? Were you a Bridezilla?
I was 22.  Not really, maybe a little right before the wedding since we were late, but otherwise, no.

5. What is your favorite girl name? (I’m needing suggestions.)

Rachael, Vianne, (veeahn), Gabriella, (Bella), Isabella, Jessica, Elizabeth, Sabrina, Michelle.

Five Question Friday 6/1/12

From Five Crooked Halos

1. What were you scared of as a kid?

As a kid, I was scared of leaving a place and never returning.  Not exactly sure why. The most common place I feared never going back to was my cousin’s house in S Orange.  It was so beautiful.  I loved being there at the Mansion.  The property was beautiful. I have so many memories there and sometimes, even today, I go and park near it just to look at it and remember.

2. Do you sleep well in a hotel?

Pretty well. It depends on where it is. One of the best places I have slept was The Wolverton Inn in Lambertville, NJ and Embassy Suites in Parsippany, NJ.  The beds there were awesome.

3. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who and why?

I would want to meet Judy Garland or Marilyn Monroe (the dead people) and Jennifer Lopez or Johnny Depp (alive)

Why? First of all, they are all in the entertainment business, something I wish I could be a part of.  Most of them are singers, like me and I would love to pick their brain and just get to know them.

4. It’s a hot summer day. Do you prefer to be pool side or at the beach?

Pool side.  Hate the sand.

5. What is your favorite summer dish?

Cucumber Salad.  Just love the taste.
